We are looking for a Senior Physician/Specialist Physician for the Emergency and Trauma Section (AoT) at the Surgical Clinic in Karlstad

This is a relatively newly established section with a clear objective regarding emergency surgery, trauma management, and hernia surgery.

Your Workplace

At the surgical clinic, we care for patients with surgical diseases, both acute and chronic. Our responsibilities include urology, vascular surgery, advanced tumor surgery within upper gastro, breast and colorectal surgery, pediatric surgery, and major trauma.

Our staff consists of doctors, nurses, and nursing assistants. You will find us at the Central Hospital in Karlstad, CSK. We perform both planned and emergency surgeries around the clock, all year round. We receive many students and are proud of the evaluations that show we are a great clinic to practice at.

Your Tasks

As a senior physician/specialist physician, you are expected to participate in the daily work with ward duties, outpatient care, endoscopy, and elective as well as emergency surgery. You will be part of the on-call work. Elective surgery is mainly conducted at Arvika Hospital (hernia and gallbladder surgery), but some elective surgery is also performed at CSK. At CSK, we have also recently started hernia surgery using robotics.

Your Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a specialist in surgery. Competence in trauma management, preferably from abroad and from another surgical subspecialty, is an advantage, as is experience in hernia and abdominal wall surgery. Experience in organizational and operational improvement work is also advantageous, as well as research and teaching experience. Good knowledge of the Swedish language is a requirement.
